There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den betting is against the law. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a prime location, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that highlights many comforts on top of the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
